Women have been underrepresented both in the boardroom and in the top management. Arguably, women in the top leadership brings social diversity and informational values. Also, women in the middle management are motivated and managerial task performance is improved resulting to better organization performance. Given that the top management mostly dominated by men, bringing in women improves on additional insight into some of strategic decisions especially those relating female partners, consumers as well as female employees.

There are several benefits of representing women in the top management of the organization. As such, promoting gender equality is considered as a smart strategy and the right thing to do in the contemporary society. One of the most practical implications is that it enables the organization to utilize the talents and skills of both men and women. We such inclusive technique is used, the organization will be in a better position to improve since men and women have diverse skills.

As well, it is imperative to note that the inclusion of women in the management brings informational and social changes in the organization. As a result, the behavior of all the managers in the firm will be enriched leading to the motivation of the women in the middle management levels. Such diversification in the management will result in different results leading to the overall enhancement of the company performance. Research reveals that businesses that have involved women in managerial tasks such as directing, controlling, coordinating, and decision making have substantially enhanced their performance (Dezsö & Ross, 2012 pp.9).

The other practical implication of women in the management is that it improves the competitiveness of the company. Most of the company managements are dominated by men employees. As such, most of the people being employed to be in charge of various processes and departments will be men. Conversely, the involvement of women in the top management will ensure that gender equality is enhanced. Women have different working strategies and thus will bring an aspect of change in the organization.

Dezsö & Ross assert that “The paucity of women in the upper echelons of management thus creates a significant barrier to managerial advancement by women” (Dezsö & Ross, 2012 pp.9). Thus, this is a clear indication that failure to include women in management substantially reduces their chances of acquiring experience in management and related tasks. Therefore, it is crucial to include them in management so that they get the necessary skills and experience to conducts tasks such as directing, controlling and decision making. All these tasks contribute to the success of the organization.

On the other hand, global growth and competitiveness are substantially enhanced by involving women in management operations. This is the main reason studies have identified that women participation in the organization makes a reasonable financial sense. However, it is still surprising that most organizations especially the larger ones have minimal women in the managements positions. According to Mattis, “the larger the company, the less likely the head will be a woman – 5 percent or less of the CEOs of the world’s most major corporations are women” (Mattis, 2001 pp.2). This is a clear suggestion that approximately 95% positions in prominent organizations are occupied by male employees (Mattis, 2001).

Women are considered as the primary team players in organizations. Most of the organizations that have been managed by women have been successful because of teamwork. Another practical implication of women in management is that they enhance flexibility in the workplace. As such, employee’s problems are handled effectively. In addition to the above, research indicates that women are great communicators. This leads to effective communication for collaborative work effort. Lastly, women deal with management challenges with tough situations with smiles on their faces. Presently, most of the management tasks are complicated and full of tension and women possess the required qualities to substantially handle such issues.

On the other hand, it is profound to note that some essential factors must be considered with an objective of ensuring equal employment opportunities in the workplace. One of the most imperative factors is the education of women. The society should make sure that women have access to quality education as compared to men. This will go an extra mile in promoting their skills and knowledge enabling them to fit the various management ranks in organizations. As well, there is a substantial need to fight against discriminations and stereotypes. For instance, stereotypes concerning women’s inadequacy in managers must be eradicated to enhance the organization performance and productivity.
