Rupert Murdoch’s Leadership Style Using Managerial Grid by Blake and Mouton

Rupert Murdoch the senior executive manager of Herald and weekly Times Newspapers is a reputable CEO who has raised the bars in terms of leadership for his incredible activities and style of management. Basing his leadership style from Blake’s and Mouton Managerial grid, it is easy to identify Rupert as a leader who has greatly used the Team Management approach[ CITATION Placeholder1 l 1033 ]. Under Team management, one is able to realize a lot of production and the performance of the firm is at the top position. It is important to categorically state that in this type of management, the employees feel relaxed and in the long run they deliver their services wholeheartedly as they enjoy activities that they are carrying out[ CITATION Placeholder1 l 1033 ].

However, it is important to note that the above approach has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Rupert may be described as a warm, friendly and, understanding leader who relates well with his employees to realize outstanding performance in his managerial and leadership styles.

Being warm in an organization encourages employees to work without pressure.

Weaknesses

The type of leadership employed by Rupert may encourage laxity and at time one may abscond duty since the manager has allowed them much freedom.

Productivity may go down as employees lack someone to supervise their progress on regular basis.

Too much freedom creates loophole.
