A voice is very crucial especially to the artists because it is the medium to which they express themselves and their thoughts as well. Therefore, any singer who wishes to make the best out of the contemporary and its opportunities must always ensure that his or her voice is always in good health. This is because it is the tool they use in earning their livelihood. Their voices should always be captivating to their prospective fans as this is the only way to ensure a musician keeps his fans with him. Music, just like any other business, is very competitive and this is why it is always important that a player becomes very mindful about his voice. This task, therefore, seeks to discuss the relevance of vocal health to contemporary singers.

To commence with, everybody likes listening to a sweet and captivating voice because, among the numerous significance, music is meant to entertain. It is a lovely view which the audience will find entertaining and therefore, singers should always ensure that their voices quality is maintained. Vocal cords are among the most important things to be mindful of with regards to human health. Vocal cords are very significant during the process of producing a word because they will always move closer to each other. It is through this movement that air will pass force itself in between them (Hughes, 2014). When this happens, vibration occurs. It should, however, be noted that through the help of the teeth, the tongue and the lips, the sound is converted into word. Thus, it is clear that there are a variety of sounds which can be produced depending on how the vocal cords are used. A contemporary singer must, therefore, ensure he has enough knowledge concerning the vocal cords’ Heath as he needs this experience in the musing field. The singer should always know when the sound he is producing is not typical as this might interfere with the song (Clift, 2012). Thus, a singer will be able to understand the differences in his voice from what is ideal and rectify it afterward. This is one of the big reasons why a contemporary singer should be mindful about his voice health.

Apart from how a sound is produced, it is very essential for a contemporary singer to have adequate knowledge about the physiology of the voice as this will enable him to comprehend some importance of vocal exercise and oral care (Hughes, 2014). This is proper because a singer is someone who completely depends on his voice to earn a living and therefore he should have a clear knowledge of what is likely to affect his voice and ultimately his career. The contemporary singers should always to refrain so much from screaming as this may eventually lead to losing of voice. A voice should, therefore, be treated with the highest degree of respect among these contemporary singers and they should always avoid dangerous activities which might endanger their voices. A view which is used in singing should not be used in unhealthy activities like smoking and too much drinking of alcohol. This is considered a severe misuse of a voice and can land a contemporary singer into significant problems if he fails to quit. A singer should also practice his voice right on time rather than wait until the date of performance to strain and make a lot of noise (Clift, 2012). This is a very unhealthy practice to view and can cause serious problems to the voice. A contemporary singer should, therefore, exercise regularly to avoid straining while he performs and refrains from all those other activities like smoking which are not friendly to swimming.

Apart from voice practicing, there are some exercises which are very vital to vocal hygiene because they are related to sound. A singer should, therefore, know these activities and always practice them to ensure his voice remains in good health. One of them is the practicing of proper breathing techniques (Dayme, 2009). A contemporary singer should know how he balances the rhythm of his breathing and the singing itself while performing. This is because breathing can either make a song sweet or totally ruin it. Breathing should be done in a way that it does not interfere with the words which are being uttered by a singer and the only way to achieve this is through practicing prior enough. Another thing which a contemporary singer needs to consider as a method which will ensure his voice remains in good health is drinking a lot of water (Clift, 2012) A voice should always be soft for it to appeal to its listeners and when it is rough it becomes scary and few people would want to listen to it. A singer should, therefore, be mindful of his audience as well because singing is done so that people can enjoy the song. With proper maintenance of the voice, there are relatively fewer chances of developing voice complications as this is considered dangerous to a singer (Erickson, 2012). With the technology changing every day, ways of improving the vocal hygiene have also been invented, and contemporary musicians should be. Therefore, they stay updated with these developments so that they do not suffer from the eventualities because in some cases someone might even lose his voice entirely.

The psycho-emotional state is also another factor which influences how voice functions and a contemporary singer should, therefore, ensure that he is aware of this. A singer should, therefore, be aware of what can affect his vocal health both positively and negatively with regards to this. Happiness and cheerfulness are among these psycho-emotional states which affect the vocal health positively (Dayme, 2009). A contemporary singer should, therefore, ensure he maintains a cheerful mood as this is good for his vocal health. It is usually very crucial to have a sleeping schedule which is respected and supported as this also contributes significantly to the great voice. It should be noted that those who have enough sleep are usually advantaged when it comes to dealing with complex vocal techniques. This is because those who do not normally have sufficient sleep are prone to fatigue (Trollinger, 2005). Enough sleep, therefore, gives the contemporary singers power to master new vocal exercises and eventually leads to producing good music.

In conclusion, the contemporary singers should always be mindful of their vocal health. This should be done by doing practicing regularly to avoid straining while performing, refraining from unhealthy activities such as drinking and smoking, potable water and having enough sleep.
