Describe the developmental processes involved in the interactions of the beech trees with its environment.
The beech trees are known for being native to temperate areas as they are a species of deciduous trees. They have their branches lowly positioned.in their interaction with the environment and several factors are held responsible for the traits portrayed as well as the developments found in the beech trees. These factors include photoreceptors, germination and seed dormancy, the growth of seedlings, development of the plants, responses of plants and senescence among others. The beech trees have grown in the leaves, roots, bark as well as the fruits and flowers produced as they interact with the environment. Besides, the heights of the trees and the branching of the stem are also of concern in the development (Letort 952).
In the growth of seeds and the development of seedlings, the beech trees exhibit a significant phenomenon of seed dormancy whereby seed from different species display different dormancy which requires being broken for development and growth to occur. Depending on the particular environment, the dormancy can be broken by the coldness or warmness of the area on the specific dormancy since some dormancy is inhibited by cold and others by warmth. Some beech trees have gibberellin and others abscisic acid which is responsible for the breakage of seed dormancy thus the seed being able to grow and develop in the environment. Their growth and germination period is between the early springs and summer with germination being successful in mineral soils or soils where leaves foliage is high. The beech trees have developed an adaptive feature that allows them to reproduce by sprouting from the roots or the stem as suckers. This helps in the development of the beech trees as they interact with the environment (Letort 957).
Also, the beech trees have developed some adaptive features that enable them to grow and interact with the environment efficiently. Their leaves being serrated and oval in shape help them to adapt to the area. The leaves are identified from those of other trees for being «elliptical.» Besides, the bark of the leaves is blue or silver in color as compared to other plant species whose stalk is brown. The vast size of the leaves helps a large surface being exposed to the sunlight thus encouraging photosynthesis as well as an increase in transpiration rate. Many beech trees have their flowers’ color yellowish-green and are small. These flowers have either the male and the female parts or both in one tree (Letort, 960).
The backs of the beech trees grow to be smooth and sleek and are light-gray. The bark grows straight and tall with dense and small crowns of foliage. These backs are very broad with several trees having breathing roots sprouting from them thus increasing interaction with the environment. Also, the plant’s response to changes brought by the change of soils’ salinity, fertility as well as moisture and light intensity are easily noted as the trees grow and develop. Drying is a sign of insufficient salinity and water, as narrow backs prove infertility and the bending of several trees towards light show a development result in the search for sufficient light intensity for development or response to thigmotropism and gravitropism thus a successful interaction with the environment (Letort 962).
