Should energy providers switchto alternative energies to provide their customers with greenpower?
Energy providers face
huge
and
extensive
demands from various
corners to switch
to alternative energy
sources to provide their customers with green
power. The alternative energy
sources are also
called
green
energy, renewable or sustainable energy
sources. Switching to green
energy
system
brings a new dimension to the
energy
supply
sphere. It
equally
means
adoption of new
strategies
for
fully
new
challenges
and
advantages
for
the
power providers and
consumers. Adoption of green
energy may mean
adoption of a new
expensive
and fluctuating method of power
generation. Althoughsomerightlyarguethat alternative energysources can be highlycostly, weatherdependentand are a farlessefficientsource of energy, however, to helpcombatthelooming global warming crisisand environmental pollution, allenergy firms should be made to seek out greenalternativeenergysourcesfor a greater global good.

The
discussion
hence
demands
the
consideration of the
positive
and
negative
impacts of green
energy. Energy providers should switch to alternative energy since the
system has numerous
advantages. Most renewable energies are ever
present, and there is no
fear of it
getting
depleted in a near
future. Unlike the
other
energy
sources like the
coal, gas
and
oil that gets
depleted after some
times renewable energy is sustainable and
ever
present. The stakeholders refer to it as the
infinity of sustainability. All the
petroleum
products are exhaustible
and cannot be used
for a long
time.

Should energy providers switch to alternative energy sources to provide their customers with green power?

Most
countries
have
utilized
the
merit in reducing
the
dependence on other
countries
for
the
provision of energy. The
typical
sources
exploited in the
process are the
free flowing sources that are found in nature like strong
winds, moving
water, heat within the Earth, shining. In case
people
do not exploit
such
energy
sources than they
are left as wastes that may also
act as perils to the
society in terms of floods, storm, and
many
other
issues. Renewable energy is environment-friendly. This
feature
emanates in that
such
energy
sources are clean
and
normally
causes
few
or
no
greenhouse
and
also
reduces
the
amount of emission of carbon
emissions Sustainable
(Johansson & Burnham, 1993).or renewable energy
sources
modes
have
negative
impacts on the
environment
and
have
minimal
impacts on the
environment. It has no
waste
wastes
products like CO2 or
even
toxic effluents like radiation
parts. The
method
also has huge environmental merits
or
benefits since they are innovative. The
methods
help in dramatically scale back on the
volume of toxic
air
pollution that finds its ways out into the
atmosphere by conventional
methods
(FräSs-Ehrfeld, 2009). The
green
energy is hugely reliable
and has helped in the
reduction of the
dependence on the
fossil
fuel in the
past decades. Most
countries
have
been under the
threat of fossils
energy
fluctuation due to certain
scenarios. Such
scenarios
include
changes in areas like politics, trade
disputes, high
prices
and
wars in the oil-rich countries. Such
fluctuation is not eminent in the sustainable energy
sources like solar
or
wind in which most
the
plants
are usually
well
distributed over expansive
and
large
geographical
area. Other
factors like weather
disruptions are always
small
and
insignificant in such
cases (BOYLE, 2012). Use of the renewable energy
creates a cheap
way of generation of energy
for
bolstering of the
economic
growth
and
expansion of the
economy. Many
economies
have
created
many long-term and sustainable job
vacancies
for its population after adopting
new
energy
generation
methods. Most
developed
nations like UK and Germany have
adopted renewable energy
production
system. According to the
countries, the
system has low
maintenance
challenges as compared to the
use of oil
or
nuclear
systems
. The
incorporation of the renewable refers to the
adoption of a steady
price
feature in the
energy
sector. The
cost of energy depends on the
amount of the
invested
money. While
using
the
natural
resources, then
the rice remains
constant. Under such
cases, the
government
only
pays a small
amount
to
the
power as compared to the
normal
scenario
conventional in the
energy
sector. The USA has accomplished one of the
best
wind
power
generation
plants in the
world. The
project
presented a very
cost
effective
way of power
generation. Such
projects are present
creation of manufacturing
plants that are cost
effective since wind
and
solar is very
reliable
sources of energy On
(Pimentel, 2008).contrary, the renewable energy
sources
have
the
negative
sides. The
approach
normally has the
challenges in the
generation of a large
quantity of energy. Most
non- renewable plants
have
ability to produce
a huge
amount of
energy. Such
plants
include
nuclear reactor and
oil
combustion
generators. The
challenge
now
lies in investing
in large
plants to generate a significant
amount of energy to match
national
requirement of any
nation. Nuclear
energy
prompted
huge
reduction of energy
prices in most
nations
and
thus
spearheaded
the
economic
growth of most
nations
worldwide. Large
and
dependable
energy
supply is very
important
for
increasing
economic
growth of various
countries
(Johansson & Burnham, 1993). Most
people
have not been
informed of the
advantages of the renewable energy in the
society. Some
other renewable energy
systems are under intensive
research
for
improvement. Most
developed
nations
have
thought of investing in the renewable energy
projects after noticing
the
negative
impacts
presented in their economies
and
livelihoods by the non-renewable methods like nuclear. Many
countries are currently spending
a huge
amount of
money in designing a new
way of harnessing tidal power in generation of power. Other
nations are currently researching on how to use
the
lighting
power
for sustainable energy
process. The
huge
chunks of money
consumed in researchers are always
unpromising
and not normal to the
conventional
environment Geothermal
(Smith & Taylor, 2008).development
projects
have
been
exploited with many potentials region in most
regions in the
world. Some
nations
have
shown
huge
success in the
process of application in the
natural
instances. Such
approaches
have
produced
a great
return in many
different
nations. Geothermal energy is amongst the
safest
method of production of renewable energy that is steady
and
dependable
for
increased
economic
growth
. Reliability could also
become
issues in case stakeholders do not take up some
measures. Natural
adversities
such as rain, sunshine
and
wind could always
generate
failures in the
use of the
method of power
generation in case their capacities
and
intensities
vary. In the
case of variation in or unpredictability in production of natural
phenomena
then
energy
producer
have
few
selection
other than non-renewable methods. Such
methods are expensive
in
the
long
run. Initial
investments are always daunting and
large. Erecting non-renewable structures are very
expensive. Such technologies demand
the
use of the upfront technology build, very
high
maintenance
expenses
and
demand
extreme
cautious
planning
and implementation. In most
cases
some renewable energy
large
tracts of land
for
the
erection of their activities. Such
investments
include
the
solar
power
generation
projects that are laid over large
tracts of land In
(Smith & Taylor, 2008).conclusion, topic on whether
the
energy providers should switch
to alternative energy
sources to provide their customers with green
power is a highly
debatable
topic. It has positive
and supportive points
and
equally
negative
and
opposing
points on it. The
positive
factors
far
outweigh
the
negative
factors on it. Energy providers should undertake
extensive
research to enable
selection of the
most
appropriate alternative energy
source that suits their environment
and is least fluctuating, so
that
cost
and
price
issues
do not arise. Alternative energy
sources are clean, dependable
and sustainable. It has more
advantages than non-renewable form of energy. The
energy is also
available
freely in nature
and can suit
so
many
applications.
