Interview with Nada Vindis the Manager of the Flemington Community Centre Essay Example

The interview was conducted with Nada Vindis the Manager of the Flemington Community Centre I and was conducted on Wednesday dated 11/4/2012 between 3pm to 4pm. The prime reason for choosing Nada Vindis was that I work in the centre which provided me an opportunity to gather valuable information through the interview. Further choosing Nada Vindis was on the premise that she is a very interesting person with news and refreshing ideas of management.

The meeting was conducted in Flemington Community Centre I which is a part of Monee Valley Council is located at 25 Mt Alexander Rd, Flemington VIC 3031, Australia. The community centre works for the society and looks towards developing programs so that the need of the community can be met. The community has looked towards a variety of affordable programs and activities developed with the community, local groups and organizations. The community centre looks towards providing exercise programs, art, craft, dance, music and cooking options for people of all ages.

Findings of the Interview

The interview conducted with Nada Vindis worked on different aspect of the management which helped to understand the manner the organization was able to manage its resources. Some of the findings of the interview are as

  • The manager ensures that the work is started early so that every small aspect of the business can be looked into. This helps to plan early and sort out the things that the business looks to do so that the requirements of the community can be met.
  • Job security and monetary values have an important role in determining the manner the people will be able to contribute towards the success of the society. Having long services and superannuation ensures that the business is able to ensure job security
  • It is important to ensure a balance between work and personal life as it helps the person to contribute towards the growth of the community and helps the business to ensure a happy and satisfied life
  • Personal factors like working, bills, family mortgage, food, community, some staff and the challenge keeps people motivated as it helps to ensure that difficult work is accomplished
  • Communication holds an important aspect for business as being able to communicate clearly makes it clear in the mind of the people which helps them to work in the correct direction
  • To solve problems and conflicts it is important to understand the causes of differences and after identifying the actual cause steps should be developed
  • It is also important to be ethical and take decisions looking at the wider requirements of the society as it helps in the benefit of both the organization and the individual
  • Another important finding was the importance of having diversity and employees from all background as it will ensure that the efforts of all people help the organization towards mutual benefit.

Comparison with theory and findings

The findings from the interview goes well with the theories that I have studied as it also highlighted that team efforts and clear vision is a requirement for an organization to achieve its goals. The interview highlighted the importance of having clearer goals as it provides direction to the employees (Palmatier, 2004). This matches with the theory as it ensures that the efforts of all employees are coordinated in a manner that provides maximum advantage to the business.

The interview also showed that group efforts were required in accomplishing any task and this will give rise to certain conflicts. This is true as people belonging to different caste, creed and religion have a different pattern on being influenced and identifying those helps to solve the problems and ensures best results for the organization. This was an aspect which was clearly evident in the interview as it highlighted the importance of solving conflict and while doing so it should be ensured that a win-win scenario emerges.

Another important reflection of the theory was the importance of being motivated. The interview showed that different factors make different people motivated so organizations that are able to identify those factors are able to ensure maximum efficiency and growth for the organization. This is an aspect which is clearly evident in the theories as ensuring motivation within the organization helps to even accomplish the difficult task (Ross & Eeden, 2008)

Further, another important learning and reflection was importance of being ethical and not being only guided by profit motive but by the larger interest of the society. Organizations in this competitive world are guided by profit motive and having a mechanism which helps to bring a balance between society and profits helps the organization over a period of time (Ralston, Hallinger, Egri & Naothinsuhk, 2005). This was an important learning from the theories and showed the manner in which organizations need to work for the growth of the society


The interview with Nada Vindis thereby highlighted the use of theories in practical life. It showed the manner in which individuals by using the different theories are able to give shape to the performance of the organization. It also showed that the different theories that are learned are put into practices and organizations that are able to use these theories in the best possible manner are able to ensure maximum growth.

Further, the interview also showed that managers and people at the high level have a role in determining the manner the organization will work and if they are able to identify the different factors which should be used in developing the organization will ensure that the theories are used in the most practical way. This ensures growth for the business and helps to use the resources in the most effective manner.
