WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF INCORPORATING CULTURES/LANGUAGES IN THE EDUCATION SYSTEM TO REDUCE CULTURE/LANGUAGE BARRIER?

BACKGROUND

Language affects major aspects of an individual everyday life. The impact of culture/language barrier cannot be easily underestimated. Studies have explored different way of reduction of culture/language barrier especially in the Australia. One such way is the incorporation of different languages and cultures in the education institutions (Lauring, 2008).

OBJECTIVES

  • o assess the importance of incorporating different cultures and languages in the Australian education system with the aim of promoting its future application.

    Language and culture plays an important aspect in an individual’s life. It is key to an individual’s source of identity and enables individuals to express emotions, share feelings and interact. When a language barrier arises diverse effects are felt by individuals. In Australia research on the incorporation of various cultures and languages in the education system has been done to ascertain how it aids in the reduction of culture/language barrier (Cortina & Gendreau 2003).

Recommendations for future Research

  • Utilize larger sample sizes to enhance the findings

  • Incorporation of culture/language in education system eliminate culture/language barrier should be emphasized.

  • Utilize other institutions and workplaces apart from education institutions in order to reduce bias.

Conclusion

In Australia to date research has suggested incorporation of different cultures and languages in the education system in eliminating the effects of language/culture barrier.
