PROFFESOR’S NAME

North Korea is a country that is capable of threatening world peace due to its nuclear capability and well-trained cyber hackers or ‘warriors’1. It is the right of every state to protect its citizens from external attacks. The Australian government created Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) whose aim is to mitigate cyber threat within national security frameworks. The cyber framework is applicable in times of peace and wartime and the 2013 Defence White Paper addresses cyber-attacks on Australia as defensive mechanism to protect national strategic interests.

Australia relies on cooperation with other states to gather intelligence a fundamental aspect in targeting threats to national interest. Infiltration can be a necessity in counter-terrorism and counter-proliferation and in times of peace quality and quantity2. The Defence White Paper 2013 at Paragraph 2.87 allows for increase in intrusion detection, threat assessment capabilities and an improvement in the capacity to respond to cyber security incidents.

Yes, Australia can infiltrate North Korea cyber world if threatened by wars, potential instability and threats to peace by North Korea. North Korean Cyber ‘Warriors’ disrupting 32,000 computers, servers network communication and three banks , after infiltrating South Korea cyber world3. Protecting the interest of Australian people would necessitate the infiltration of North Korea. Cyber warfare is a war fought on cyber space and if necessary just like the North Koreans have trained hackers capable of engaging in warfare, Australia can treat such threats with equal measure by infiltrating their network and systems4.
