Nordic film and television culture have a high demand within the Nordic countries and beyond. The many advances in technology have made the whole world to be a global village whereby the spread of information has become easy and accessible together with other services. This has played a great role in making a breakthrough of the Nordic films to other countries. (Hardy et al. 26). The concept of national cinema seems to have its roots in the Nordic countries. Globalization is not a huge historical event though the people in the West may not realize it as a new dawn of age in our lifetime. Genre films had not gained a larger market until the new millennium where domestic ones were started to be exposed. Marketing the genre films to external countries came by due to the stiff competition it faced when television was introduced. Both Denmark and Sweden have been able to export considerably more films to the other Nordic countries than they have imported from those other countries (Newmann 17).

How the nation is transposed, translated and transformed into the global.

A nation can be transposed, translated and transformed into the global through several ways considering the advances in development worldwide. Nordic countries coming into the global for example was of no much surprise because of the popularity of television shows. The killing, a film art, for example, had a very high demand in the local and international market. Its original Danish version had been improved so much to cater for the daily changes in people’s lifestyle and ever rising advances in technology. The Nordic film industry faced a lot of competition due to the introduction of television. Due to the introduction of television, the art and film genre faced a lot of competition because people preferred watching television other than going to the cinemas to watch art film. The government, however, came in to rescue it from losing its market. The government offered support in creation of influential films that steered part of the film towards the production of art house films and social problem film (Newman 16)

There were several film politics that took place in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland in the 80’s. There were several changes that took place as the organizations adopted better ways towards commercial production such that the films produced could be done on stage and people watch it. Adoption of the new politics as genre productions has made many varieties of film production be done in the Nordic countries as they strive to meet the changes with the current technological advances. These countries are now able to produce art film that can easily penetrate the international market as well as the domestic market. These countries strive to produce better film genres than another to cater for the stiff competition between them. This not only facilitates production of quality films but also easier access to a larger audience worldwide.

Nestingen and Elkington observed that in the in an anthology on contemporary cinema, the concept of national cinema seemed to be more resilient in the Nordic countries. They summarized that tradition of production and audience taste, and institutionalized support for national cinema was the major cause of the Nordic countries being well known for the cinema arts(Nestingen and Elkington 10).Nordic countries appreciating their national cinemas was mostly due to the fifty years of institutionalized film politics where national film institutions were highly promotion.The fact that these Nordic countries were perceivable cultural, geographical and historical closeness was another factor which boosted its transformation into the global. It was therefore very difficult for other countries to have their art film get access to this countries. Despite this challenging difficulty, other countries had to find ways and means of gaining a breakthrough. It gained a few access to these countries in the first attempt, and soon they appreciated it even without it being translated the Nordic language.

In the European and Nordic context, film history, film adaptation had a bad reputation because it had no notion of uniqueness, novelty and originality. People had to learn from post -colonial era where the fast and the last were all the same because they all had ideas of handling problems (Hutcheon 7). Hutcheon’s argument was of importance because it made people appreciate the European and Nordic films. Just because the other films were preferred to the Nordic and European films do not make them inferior whatsoever. Some audiences would still prefer them even though they might have been categorized as the second. It is not always that when one fails to be the first is that they have no knowledge at all because it is that they could only not compete favorably with the rest. This argument enabled the Nordic together with the European films to be transposed into the global since people changed the perception of the films and started appreciating the films.

In the twenty-first century, contemporary remarks go to the Nordic region due to their transnational endeavor because they made a breakthrough internationally because of production ofEnglish language based films in the United States and the United Kingdom. The English language was able to reach a wider market because the main language in the United States and the United Kingdom is English. The great demand of Nordic twenty-first cinema has a great connection to the transfer of knowledge prowess and film production within the Nordic countries and the US and the UK. The Nordic region is a transnational endeavor is also supported by the strong pillar of most directors, producers and actors. This play a great role of marketing the film arts in the other countries and the people can appreciate it. Such networks with different people in the world are especially of great importance in not only marketing the country’s films and art but also in other fields. This transforms a nation into the global because people would be curious to know more about a country through technology which has made the world like a global village as one can get all the information through mobile phones and even personal computers. A nation can go global in various fields such as tourism sector, industrial and also educational not forgetting that many people can get various job opportunities by getting links through the internet.

Exporting small national’s film, for example, those of the Nordic origin get access to the environment of cinema and various festivals. Films such as those of thrillers, romantic drama, police or crime procedurals can get to the international market if only they are exported from their countries of origin. The tradition of the Nordic context and amateur is based for instance on the psychological effect or how the audience will analyze it driven by character development. A film that has a good character base is likely to fetch a greater market because even the audience will be thrilled and gets interested to watch ad even to follow its various series (Nestingen14). To be successful, storytelling formula, innovation, and ingenuity should be in order so as to bring out a good plan of the story so as to form a good base that will fascinate the reader. Moreover, film cinemas are usually connected to tourism which brings together many people around the world. Currently. There is a vast expansion of possibilities of air transport such that artists and film makers can get easy travel and get exposed to the world. Audiences can also travel to other nations to attend film cinemas and through such globalization is made easier.

The nation can be transformed to the global also through film arts and cinemas shown on television. Nowadays, movies produced and television shows do not only provide pictures but also oral information. The information the pictures portray is reinforced by the words that the viewer can see such that understanding of the topic discussed is made so simple.Their distribution is based on the regions they serve, and according to languages, people speak in that region that is headed by someone who is well conversant with that language. Currently, various centers both regionally and nationally where serious art are being merged into a single world, unified all with the mission of perfecting fine arts. Evidences of such happenings is the meetings conducted on how to improve services by roughly more than fifty which is done averagely in a difference of two weeks. These national and regional centers have got an aim of attracting international tourism and they also function to assemble a large number of people of different background so as they are able to share ideas and expound on their research.

Another factor that has made Nordic noir a global genre is the changes that have been made in the film production industry. Earlier, films included those that affected only the family unit while a number of recent films mostly engage social issues pertaining to the current trends that are universal and affect almost all people around the globe and inequalities experienced in the society the change in context has enabled it to gain higher demand from within its nation and far beyond. The fact that it changed its context increased the number of an audience because the current topic affects most people without restricting culture, race or even geographical position one is located in. Also, most art filmers have opted for other universal topics such as those of fear. It is good that the film production goes in line with the current trends in the market so that they are not declared obsolete and lose trust from their viewers.The horror and vampire genres are among the most commonly remade film genres, arguably because according to psychologists, physiological and psychological responses to fear appear to be largely universal affecting almost every one, transcending linguistic, cultural and social contexts (Werner 79). Therefore, scary films have a strong immersive potential to change one’s attitude towards something. The universal topics when discussed is not biased to a group of people but can serve a wider market, and its viewership is made known worldwide.

Nordic Noir can also be seen as a global genre in the sense that it has promoted historical strengths whereby in the olden times, in the Nordic countries, people could gather at certain times at a certain place to watch the art films. This was done every year at the same place, and people could gather there until the cinema shows were over. Before introduction of television and internet, the place could be used for such functions by people even from the nearby countries. The film context was such that it was uniform and no any group got discriminated. These places, however, lived to be historic sites as part the of conservation of the culture. People from all over the world who have the interest in touring the Nordic countries and even with the interest of seeing the beautiful scenic view of the historical sites can visit. It is still helpful in promoting the peoples culture which is currently at a great risk of being wiped out by modernization.The local communities there not only have the chance of interacting with the tourists but also have got employment as tour guides at the site. As Nordic film production becomes more diversified, it is of great importance to collect Nordic genre films and television from various sources so that it is never lost.

AsNordic film culture is reaching an increasing level of global recognition, there the is the need for interrogation in the English language so as to encourage wider readership among various people. In addition the Nordic film industry-academic field study as a way of training people on the importance of the message they can get from the also important that the film industry to consider the various audience and make sure that they remain relevant even beyond the Nordic countries so as to facilitate cultural, religious and even geographical interactions through globalization. There is also need to expand on existing theoretical, and methodical use of resources between the local and international and even the transnational as we promote globalization.

Inconclusion, entertainment industry need a plan for it to achieve its objectives as planned. Practice, process and infrastructure are important tools for enhancing and maintaining globalization in the entertainment industry. The context that is dealt with should cater both for the local and global concerns, this is more effective when those are responsible for making films and producing them are aware of the international demand and the changes that may accrue along as the films are acted and even shown in cinemas and television. The process making should be such that it is able to cater and accommodate various changes without much disturbances on the audience. The film context can deal with the past, the present and even the future all this with the aim of audience satisfaction. All should be able to promote globalization and the need of making the whole world as a global village.
