Nissan is a vehicle manufacturing company that produces and sell self-powered vehicles which include; trucks, commercial vehicles, passenger cars and other farm equipment. Through vehicle manufacturing, Nissan has enabled the public in general to commute within short and long distances. Nissan has also made communication easier in that people can now travel to farther places. On the other hand through vehicle manufacturing, Nissan has also fostered trade through the ease of transportation of goods from one place to another easily with the availability of the vehicle. Nissan company, has also impacted the transport industry and company sectors of multiple countries since vehicles have eased the transportation burden of goods and people. However, Nissan as a vehicle manufacturing company is responsible for ensuring that the company reduces unnecessary waste and minimise the consumption of the scarce resources this is also in line with the current financial sustainability efforts being taken up by other manufacturing companies globally which is line with the goals to minimise cost and risk while also meeting the customer’s expectations. This paper, therefore, aims to highlight on the implementation process on the sustainability and this the environmental conservation policy.

The sustainability policy, in this case, entails ensuring that the company minimises on the expenditure in the manufacturing of automobiles. Here the sustainability will focus on renewable raw material which are cost effective thus helping the company to save on the raw material expenditure. In line with this sustainability issue, the company will also ensure that it does not compromise on the vehicle quality. The manufacturing company will ensure that it meets the customers need by producing quality vehicles using renewable raw material that are cheaper and which also guarantee environmental conservation. The sustainability, on the other hand, will be in line with the recent company policy on waste minimisation and reduction on the consumption of resources by the company.

In order create this policy various information will be drawn from a range of sources in order to create an effective plan for the development of the policy. Some of these sources entail; The National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act which was implemented in the year 2007. This Act emphasises the need for companies to embrace environmental conservation strategies in their manufacturing and processing company operation. In this case through the implementation of this policy Nissan Company will be abiding by this Act.The other source where information of this policy by Nissan company can be drawn from is the Environmental Protection Act implemented in the year 192. This particular system acts as a backup to Nissan’s policy since it calls for the environmental conservation by both individuals and organisation. The other source where part of this policy by Nissan Company will borrow from is the Environmentally Hazardous Chemicals Act of the year 1987. This particular Act relates on the part of Nissan policy which focuses on the preventing the emossion of hazardous gases in the atmosphere. According to Nissan’s company ACT, this particular Act emphasises the need for the company to use raw materials which do not cause air pollution.

The policy development process will entail the identification and consultation of the key stakeholders. In this case, the policy development process will focus on pointing out at the key stakeholders who are influential in the development of this policy. Here the policy will focus on the executive managers in the company and other key personality involved in the company’s operation. The Human Resource department will also feature as part of the consultation process of this policy since it will be involved in interpreting the policy to the other company employees.

After the policy cnsultation stage, the policy awareness creation stage will follow. This stage will entail the creation of awareness of the policy. The company employees will be presented with flyers, and booklets containing contents of the policy, how it will be implemented and the duration when they should familiarise themselves with the policy before it is officially enacted. This stage will also focus on the promotion of the policy to the internal and external stakeholders besides the company employees. This stage will also focus o showing the employees what is required for them in order to meet this policy. It will also communicate on workforce sustainability policy with the goal of meeting the expected outcomes. This stage will also entail interpretation of any other additional responsibilities required of the employees besides their current workload regarding the implementation of the policy. The the next stage will be the Key Performance Indicators progress report review stage. This stage will entail review of the response to the company’s operation and employees in general to the policy. In this case, the review will check whether the set due dates have been met and whether there are any arising issue regarding the policy implementation in the company.

For the sustainability process, all the stakeholders will be required to review the resources where the policy was drawn from, the carbon credits and the government initiative efforts. These stakeholders will be required to agree on these issue before the policy implementation process can continue. The next stage will be on hearing of any recommendation made on the policy with the focus on its effectiveness and the time frames. These recommendations should be backed up by substantial evidence or theories for instance SWOT analysis or qualitative surveys. In this stage, the time frames will also be reviewed, and needed changes will be implemented based on time span and economic variability of the policies time frame.

The next stage of the policy implementation will be reviewing the sustainability effectiveness of the policy implementation. This review will be conducted in reference to the environmental management systems life cycle analysis. This review will focus on whether the policy’s sustainability has been incorporated into the company’s plan. In this case, the policy sustainability will be cross checked whether it has complied with the environmental management system guidelines. This stage will also entail conducting of life cycle analysis where the environmental impact used in the entire life cycle of a product is reviewed.

The final stage in the policy implementation stage will be the legislation of the relevant documents. This stage will consider the sustainability policy as highlighted in the federal state and local government. In line with this, the stage also has to adhere to the code of practice being followed by the Nissan Company in its current industry.

One major recommendation for this policy implementation stage is to increase the time duration for the awareness creation stage about the policy. This is due to the difficulty for one actually to estimate a period where a particular number of people will be enlighted concerning a particular issue. This is attributed to the fact that we all have varying understanding capabilities; therefore, it is difficult to get a correct estimation of the time scale that a particular group of people will be enlighted on something. Therefore the awareness creation stage should run across the entire policy implementation process in order to ensure that the employees and the stakeholders have understood the policy entirely.
