I have interacted with Aboriginals on various levels with the major platform being in different sporting activities. From these places, I have had two close friends who are aboriginals with our relationship having been formed mainly from the fact that I was very curious to learn more about them and their culture. My understanding of the aboriginal people to date has been that despite their culture is diverse and complex, they have managed to survive in Australia for this long because they have a significant ability to change and adapt over the years. Regarding my privilege within my community, I believe that it has been as a result of my familial support, education, efficient healthcare access, and my middle-class upbringing.

The concept of emotional and social well-being typically highlights the way in which individuals perceive their lives presently and in future. Therefore, in the practice of mental health, understanding this concept may help one to integrate the mental health practice with the physical health aspect which may then lead to the social worker embracing a holistic approach to mental health promotion. The concept of emotional and mental well-being will also tend to enable one take the approach of measuring an individual’s economic status, mortality, and morbidity, which will then let them understand the way in which individuals perceive the lives and their future from their perspective. This is a depiction of an advance in psychology and the enhancement of mental health.
