The World Wide Web (WWW) is basically a massive client server system that consists of millions of different servers that are distributed across the world. Each and every server maintains a collection of given documents in which individual document is stored in a format of a file. Moreover, stored documents can as well be generated upon user request whereby, a server accepts a request to fetch a document, process and transfers it to a client. The server also can accepts a request to certain or store new documents or files. Files stored and retrieved can be in various formats including; audio visual and plain text (Hutchins and Rowe 2012).

WWW Documents are easily located through reference means known as Uniform Resource Locator (URL). It specifies the location of a document by embedding the Domain Name Server’s name of the associated server along with the file name by which the server uses the embedded name of the document to locate it within its file system. Moreover, the URL specifies the application level protocol used for transferring the document and other files across the network. On the other hand, a television is a system that is used in transmitting sound and visual images that are mostly produced on scenes. It is mainly used to broadcast or transmit programs for information, entertainment and education (Yen et al 2010). The main aim of a television is to extend sense of sight beyond specified natural limits and to as well transmit sound that is associated with the scene. Television picture signal is generated by installed TV cameras and its sound signal is transmitted through a microphone. In PAL-B colour TV, the sound signal is modulated and picture signal is as well amplitude modulated before transmission. The two modulated products are then transmitted through a common antenna. Unlike WWW, a TV receiver encompasses of a “tuner” which are tuned circuits located in its input section and each television station is usually allocated different carrier frequencies that facilitate the selection or tuning of preferred station at the receiving end from the many that are picked by the antenna. Therefore, while information acquisition through WWW is selected through URL, information selection in TV systems is through change of frequencies Voyticky and Jean (2003). TV is facing several changes that affect the way it is produced, financed, experienced and distributed to the intended audience. This changes have developed from analog and low definition receivers to digital, customizable multi-media portal that incorporate hundreds of channels and advance levels of high definition sets that have greater capacities for human interactions. In comparison to WWW that has minimal physical and notable changes, changes in the WWW world are measured in terms of capability, speed and capacity of transmission of requests between client and server. The main feature in this case being measured in terms of bandwidth (Yen et al 2010).

Picture and sound transmission in TV is optical and may be thought as large number of very tiny areas of a picture that are assembled together. The elementary area into which the pictures details are broken up is known as “pixels” or “picture elements” which when assembled and viewed in a common manner it presents the visual information of a scene. However, associated problems while transmitting image or picture on TV systems are likely to occur and these problems are resolved by a process called “scanning”. In scanning optical information is converted to electrical form is carried out in terms of element by element, one after the other and in a specific and sequential manner in order to cover the whole picture.

In WWW the entire communication or “transmission” between server and client is usually based of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). In this transmission method, the client generates and sends a request message to the server and waits for a response form the server. Unlike in television transmission between a broadcaster and the receiver which broadcasts multiple unrequested messages to the antenna, the WWW client is normally issued with specific requested message. WWW uses Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) to deliver client request to the server for a specific file or document which can be in the form of audio-visual or plain text. The same connection that is used by the client to send the request is as well the same connection that will be used to receive the response. This is in centrally to TV which does not specifically request through a designated channel or connection. Furthermore, communication is WWW is facilitated with “helper applications”. These applications enables on to easily navigate through web browsers and access required information unlike television in which most broadcasters do not facilitate the same.

Television did not just appear on internet. Instead, venture capitalists and engineers worked in order to change the medium and optimize it for the purpose of mass communication. This venture enabled the WWW to avail large amount of information that can be accessed simultaneously by large audience from relatively few sources, conveniently, consistently and at high speed. Transformation of the internet medium to encompass television to the internet did not simply add capacity and make broadcasting easier, it is notable that as the internet patterns changed as well. This is from peer-to-peer to peer-to-many communication.

Television is viewed by many as unique by the fact that it is a system that can be utilized as a centre of society to command the public attention and can guarantee a communal participation. This is by the fact that it is technology that can be defined by experience of large number of audience watching the same thing simultaneously. As opposed to the WWW that is vast and diverse to audience. Television channels and frequencies are present in a manner that dictates what can be accessed and viewed at a given time hence acquiring the term programme “line-up or schedule”. The WWW is unique its own ways. An individual accesses numerous files and documents at the same time and literally all people can access different files and documents of preference at the same time and from the same source (server) (Yen et al 2010).

Considering the fierce competition that is experienced in the television industry, the presence of the WWW as an alternative video platform cannot be ignored. It is notable that quite a substantial number of viewers prefer live steaming of events on computers and other internet aided devices as compared to watching television that is dictated by the broadcaster and other interested parties. Moreover, WWW information is regarded more accurate and reliable and lacks the element of biasness as opposed to broadcasted information. WWW on the other hand is a dependable information acquisition source through research and other practices. Information that is contained on WWW is viewed consistent and easily available for future retrieval and reference. Unlike television which in most cases unless one records an event, the occurrences cannot be easily available for later review and/or analysis (Hutchins and Rowe 2012).

Television is considered more content secure than WWW. In comparison of the two, information connived to the public through television is determined by the broadcasters, relevant government authorities and all other stakeholders that might be concerned. This dictates what information content can be viewed or accessed by what people and at what time. Content management plays an important role in the society, content that are non-educative, immoral and unethical can be regulated on television by the concerned. WWW capability of the same is somehow compromised, this can be echoed by the fact that children can possibly access adult content at will hence acquiring information and experience that might be of no use or harm to their lives.

Virtual reality and on demand live streaming of content on TV and other mobile devices has outplayed the old days of families and friends sitting on a sofa to watch television, moreover those days of urging and fighting over a remote to control what to watch and when have as well be bypassed. However, it is safe to argue that those days have not completely gone for instance if a family or a group of say three or four people what to watch the same thing, then it would not be wise that each and every one has their own headsets streaming the same content. Also live events like a soccer or football match would more entertaining while watching together other than everyone on their and later have a common analysis. Therefore, television will always be round although watching dimensions will always change (Hutchins and Rowe 2012).

Television has entirely revolutionized. Television manufacturer like Sony and other competitors are focusing on developing high-tech television sets for their clientele. Development and advancement of products like High Definition, Ultra High Definition, 4k and High Dynamic Range (HDR) can by itself indicate the direction in which the future of television is headed. HDR content production is done using extremely advanced camera technology for capturing footage, this results to production of images that have higher light contrast and are more details in terms of picture and display clarity. For instance, on a standard display of camp fire, some display might bring out everything that is captured on the frames shadow might adopt a uniform shade of black but in HDR display, it will allow one to see the different shades and outline all objects that might be barely lit within the surrounding hence the difference between with the regular television is as contrasting as night and day.

Android televisions is another form of innovation that has greatly changed the television world. The innovation is rapidly growing in popularity clearly bringing out the clear and unmistakable distinction and overlap between traditional television and mobile viewing. Literally gone are the days that one used to manually scroll through the entire television channels to find channel 237 which at that time might be screening one of your favourite shows. Presently one can just bark a simple command on the television (a bit like Siri and iPhones) and your channel will instantly come up.

Other aspects of technologically advanced televisions is that one does not necessarily require a specific remote for its operation. This is covered in the aspect that your mobile phone can as well be your remote control. Though this might be tricky in situation where many people who poses smart phones and live in the same house what to watch different channels.

Televisions are nowadays disguised as a form of artwork that hangs on the walls in most host houses. Some manufacturing companies have gone as far as developing projectors that are as small as a packet of popcorns or crisps. This notable development and evolution demonstrates the ever-changing desires that consumers have for technology advanced appliances in homes to suit the comfort and fit in homes without coursing any unnecessary obtrusive. Ultra throw projectors have a priority over discretion, it encompasses a 4k resolution and sits on the floor of the room projecting content upward using lasers as compared to old day’s projectors that used light and hanged of the ceiling projecting light across the room and always projected people passing. Online streaming has also led to elimination of television aerials hanging on roof tops. Therefore it is safe to not that aerials and other external signal booster might not have any place in the clear and bright future that awaits (Hutchins and Rowe 2012).

World Wide Web future is promising. The current utilization of the internet by virtually every person and organization indicates that future operations will entirely be controlled and defined by one efficiency and effective use and application of technology. Presently almost all production or manufacturing line embrace and high rely on technology for swift operations, straight from raw materials acquisition all the way to marketing of the finished products. Management uses research and online management and monitoring of business. This has enabled most companies to effectively save resources especially human labour since one individual can perform duties that could otherwise require a reasonable number of employees to perform. Moreover, it is noted that product quality improves rapidly with more adoption of technology and research of which World Wide Web is the foundation of knowledge that facilitates research, testing and implementation of ideas (Yen et al 2010).

The “Internet of things” is as well one of the major present and future aspects of WWW. The concept that one can monitor and operate appliances remotely will highly promote efficiency and security. Applications are being developed that can enable an individual communicate with machines that are geographically located in a different place. These applications deliver requests to a given device, the device processes it and gives feedback (Hutchins and Rowe 2012).
