The professional organisations such as the АIB, АIQS, МBА, tradeunions (e.g. СFМЕU), and statutorybodies (e.g.work cover) play a significant role in their respective field. To raise the professional awareness of the people and interests they represent. They raise the profile of the people and subject, for example the AIB promotes the work of the architects. They ensure that the architecture sector is made of professionals who are well qualified, competent and persons of integrity. The architects are the service providers in the building and construction industry. The purpose of the professional organisation is to ensure that the industry is served by service providers who are experienced, qualified and with skills to fully satisfy the consumer’s needs. As such, the professional organizations ensure that the respective fields are filled with competent persons. This is very important as it ensures that the service providers and consumers get quality services and products. The service providers provide quality services and products according to the needs and wants of the consumers (Lindvall&Muthig, 2008).

The professional organizations serve a very important purpose of representing their members in the respective sector or industry. While they regulate the entry of people in the sectors, they represent their interests and thus serve as bargaining power. The members in the professional organizations have the power to charge the amount of fees or remuneration but the professional organisations ensures that the rights and conduct of the members are protected. As such, the professional organizations have a purpose of regulating its members so as to ensure compliance with the law and regulation. They also serve as regulatoryentities where any person, aggrieved party or organisation can report the conduct or any concern relating to the members of the respective organisation. The professional organizations are banks of knowledge and therefore they ensure that consumers get the best value for their money. This is by providing services and products of the highest quality. The consumers may not know the standard or quality of the services or product as they may not possess the skills and knowledge. As such, the professional organizations ensure that the suppliers and or their members provide high quality services and products (Knodel et al., 2006).

The professional organisations provide code of conduct to its members, the members are expected to adhere and comply with the code of conduct at all time. The professional organizations ensure that the code of conduct, rules and regulations as well as terms and conditions are adhered to by the members. Essentially, the professional organizations regulate the conduct of its members. On the other hand, the professional organizations are mandated with ensuring that they incorporate the emerging in the industry. This works to the benefit of the members as they are ones on the ground providing services to the consumers. The professional organizations keep the members updated on the latest developments in the sectorand or industry. This enables the members to provide up to date services to consumers, they are continually informed and this enables them to provide quality services and products to consumers (Jiménez et al., 2009).

The professional organizations also are positive instruments and agents for change in the construction industry or any other industry they represent. On behalf of their members, they plan execute and implement the necessary changes meant to improve and better the industry. The biggest beneficiary of the change isthe consumers as they will be provided with quality services and products. In addition, the suppliers of the services are benefit as they are well informed and this increases the value of their services and products. Another purpose of the professional organisations is to share and promote best practices in building and construction industry. These best practices are for ensuring professional conduct as well as provision of quality services and products by their members. The professional bodies also maintain and promote the best practices and standards. As such, the professional organizations ensure promotes and share best practices to various stakeholders especially its members (Parhami, 2005).

The professional organizations meet, network and support their members in the building and construction industry. The organizations look to improve skills and expertise of the members so as to provide superior services and products. Essentially, the professional organisations are set up to regulate the building and construction industry or any other respective industry they represent. They administer codes of conducts and various acts and regulations. They ensure that the state and federal laws are followed and that their members comply with them to the letter. Another purpose of the professional organizations is that they settle disputes in regard to issues like wage disputes, compensation, contracts and other issues. Whenever their members have disputes with clients, the professional organizations solve the conflicts and or the dispute. In such cases, they do not only act in the best interest of their members but also for the clients. It therefore acts as a nonpartisan to the dispute or conflict (Sagafi-Nejad& Dunning, 2008).

The professional bodies also issue certificates to confirm that they are satisfied with work done and that the work meets legislative requirements. The bodies inspect the work at various critical stages before issuing the certificates. This is very important as they act as the consumers watch. Additionally, the professional organizations act as consultants, they possess expertise, knowledge and skills and therefore in a better position to provide advice not only to their members but also to all other stakeholders. They act impartially as their interest is for better industry. This positions them to provide advice and therefore act as consultants in their respect fields(Parhami, 2005). Moreover, the professional bodies embrace diversity and they ensure equitable access to benefits of membership among their members and partners regardless of their affiliations or location, gender or ability. They also promoted and recognise the contributions of their members as well as their achievement.

The professional organizations are very important as they maximize management effectiveness by way of timely, comprehensive and transparent reporting, analysis as well as forecasts. This indicates accountability, they are responsible for the management of the industries they represent and therefore they always seek to maximize reporting of the various aspects of the industry(Sagafi-Nejad& Dunning, 2008).

Ethics and standards are very important; they are the rules and guidelines that direct the members of the professional organisations or bodies. They relate to conduct of the members, the ethics and standards control and regulate the professional behaviour and conduct of the members. They are set so that members to adhere to them as a means of maintaining professionalism in their work(Jiménez et al., 2009). Ethics and standards are a commitment to professional conduct that requires commitment to the introduction of code of ethics and standards of professional practice. The members are integral to the working out of the standards and the standards themselves are founded on professionalism, equity, fairness and quality. If the members do not adhere and promote these ethics and standards then the standards, ethics and the organisation itself will fall in to disrepute. People will resort to alternative means.

The members of these professional organizations are professionals. This concept bears the view that matters of ethicalduty and responsibility are an inherent part of the building and construction profession (or any other profession) (Lindvall&Muthig, 2008).The .professions most valuable asset is its collective reputation and confidence which that inspires. The members must have the confidence of the clients, customers and the public. The members of the bodies have a relationship with the clients, customers and the public through the ethics and standards, this explains their importance and why the members should adhere to them and promote them as well(Knodel et al., (2006).
