Irish Times is a broadsheet newspaper. It posts daily updates on various events and issues. The newspaper always target to the general population. The information is written in a simple language that a layman can understand. There is no colloquial kind of language that might leave the audience uninformed as it is with academic sources. Newspapers, are for non-academic functions, but offer primary data as the information is reported as it was said from the source. In many cases it uses various hyperlinks incases a reader wants to confirm said word or information or data drawn from other sources, more so government source or other reports. The structure is simple, with several simple structured paragraphs and flowing friendly voice, which makes the reader keep reading to the end regardless of the nature of topic. The information is mostly presented with present or present continuous tense, as most data is reported as it is on the ground. The information, flows from the introduction through the body to the end and is simple to follow as more of a story structure, and by the time the reader reaches at the end, may feel the need for a continuation on the same as it just flows. The newspaper however, unlike other academic sources does not form a summative conclusion thus the last part of the report might on be a continuation of the previous story, but written in a manner to deliver all the information required to be released to the public.

Journal are academic sources. Journals, have specific structures which should be complied with in that you can tell the introduction, the body and the conclusion at a glance. Journal can embrace a theoretical aspect or an empirical aspect to address a certain topic

The introduction brings in the topic, ensures that it points out the thesis that the author will work to prove at the end of the research, explores the rationale for doing the research, the objectives the study question and uses existing literature to let the reader understand what is already known regarding the topic, and the existing gaps that the author finds a reason to address the topic. With journals, the author, does not make up imaginary stories, the information is supported by sound data, and approved academic sources information to ensure authenticity in his/her claims. The authors, comes up with their mode of research, reasons for such choices, foreseen weaknesses in their choices and strengths to increases data validity and reliability. The authors use existing information to build the research platform and primary data during their research to strengthen their findings and at the end, the authors link the primary information gathered with the secondary information found and make a profound conclusion on whether the results obtained support their thesis and depending on their outcome they may make recommendation for future research.

The language is professional and only understood by professionals or researchers not a layman. In fact, if you’re not an expert in a certain field some words and colloquial used may not be understood with ease or you may need an expertise in the field to elaborate for example in medicine cases, engineering cases among others. Being peer reviewed, academic journal increases their credibility

Regardless of the approach employed by a journal, the authors bring in well-constructed argument and using the literature they critique various existing information and their findings as well. Another, challenge though is that you may not tell exactly the time of authorship, for instance, this journal was received in 2015 and published on 2016 so when was it completed by the author? The waiting list in most cases delays immediate publication and thus, the primary findings might not be that current.

Test books may focus on a single idea or combine various key issues. The authors come up with a specific theme regarding a certain topic. The authors uses various sources to critically analyze the idea using well-structured arguments collected from existing literature. With a book, the author points out what the reader is likely to find within the content. At the end the author compiles all the sources; bibliography used in the study whether they are provided within the text or they formed part of the research and not indicated within the content. In some cases, the author may combine various themes within the content, such that the reader gets to grasp the interrelationships of various topics, broadening his/her knowledge on various fields. For a single idea, the author will ensure that he/she takes you through the process of synthesizing the topic using various authors’ findings, and various important perspective as the authors pointed, to help the reader understand better.

Books, like journal, use professional language, however, this may vary from one field of research to the other depending on the targeted audience. Colloquial language and serious voice is part of book writing. However, the main challenge lies where the researcher addressing a specific topic has to rely on various authors view as the positions, views and perspective for each author’s text vary. Additionally, in other cases some author’s using a critical analysis via wide literature search acknowledge alternative perspectives. Further, books with a wide concept collection are likely to gather broad information and suffer from biasness in choosing what to add or exempt thus, narrowly addressing the topic. Like journal, it may take about two years waiting publication, thus, by the time of publishing such information might be outdated and reviewed otherwise.
