A hazard is something that can cause damage or unfavorable effects such as sound effects to a person, or to equipment as property damage (Ericson, 2015). However, a risk is the likelihood that one will be harmed or experience an adverse effect due to exposure to an individual hazard (Reason, 2016). The risk cannot be similar to everyone. Risk can be a measure of both the danger and the likelihood of occurrence.
The way in which an object or a situation may occur
Is the chance that the harm will actually occur
The extend in which the likely recipient of the harm is exposed to ,or can be influenced by it.

. Risk operation study.
This method of hazard and operational studies is used in the identification of most likely hazards to happen, and the operational problems which bear caused by deviation from plan indented of the plants. This study consists of planners, safety council and some people who have skills in the given area. They also include people who have knowledge of operating similar equipment and plants of the workplace.
2. Workplace walkthrough.
This is walking in the area which hazard identification is targeting. It is observing how work is done and thus revealing vital clues about the harm involved.
3. Analysis of the available information.
Checking through the available information assists in identifying most likely hazards to happen. This may involve record which includes; systems of work and procedures credentials, incident, and first bet records, safety, and health policies among others.
4. Workplace inspection
Reviews focus on certain tasks, locations, and the harms. It should be regarded as a fact-finding Endeavour to detect potential hazards. It is important to brief the tasks to those undertaking the role with activities required.
Control measures prevent hazards through limiting and avoiding the substances and equipment that are hazardous (Hauptmanns, 2015). The control measures are implemented through the use of equipment that prevents exposure to hazards. Control measures also include the use of procedures that limit exposure to hazards (Hopkin, 2017). These procedures include monitoring, supervision, evaluation and testing of the control procedures. Behavior at the workplace should equally be monitored to ensure that the workforce carries out the control procedures put in place.

Risk assessment is the term used to describe the general process of identifying hazards and risk factors that are likely to cause harm, analyzing and evaluating the risk associated with those risks, and determining the appropriate methods of eliminating the dangers, or control measures in a case where hazards cannot be removed
a. Hazard identification.
It is the process of finding, listing and sorting the dangers.
b. Risk analysis
It is the process of comprehending the nature of risks and determining the level of risk. It provides a basis for risk evaluation and the decisions concerning risk control. The information used includes present and past data, theoretical analysis and the opinions of the stakeholders.
c. Risk assessment.
It involves comparison of risk estimates against the criteria to determine the significance of the risk.
d. Risk control.
These are the actions which involve monitoring the actions put forward in control of risk and risk evaluation methods.
This refers to the overall process of identifying the hazards, analyzing the risk and the assessment (Haimes, 2015). It is very essential because it forms an integral part of the technical and safety management plan. Its aim is to evaluate hazards, remove or minimize the hazard through additional control measures as appropriate. It is done by competent persons who are well versed with the matter at hand. Here, the hazard has to identify, determine the probability of such harm, and determine the necessary actions to eliminate the hazard or control the risk when the hierarchy of scrutiny method is applied. the evaluation of risk is done to confirm whether the hazard has been done away with, or if the risk has sufficiently been controlled (Aven, 2015).
The following has to be taken into account when assessing risks;
1. The real and possible exposure to risk.
2. The procedures were necessary to monitor and control risks.
3. The frequency of the task.
4. The location of where the activity has to be done.
5. The tools in use.
As part of effective managing health and safety of the entity, it is crucial to control the risks involved in your place. This process is what is referred to as risk assessment. Doing this involves thinking about possible causes of harm to people and deciding the most appropriate steps to curb the effects. This process is not about creating large amounts of work but identifying most appropriate measures to control these risks.
One and of the central aspects of risk assessment is exact identification of the potential hazards. A good start up is walking around your workplace and projects any possible causes of harm to your employees.
Secondly, think of the possible vulnerable members of the hazard. You should be clear on who might be harmed as this will be of important help to identifying and control of risks. After identifying the possible hazards, you then detect how likely the possible harm are to occur. Generally, do something that will practically protect people from getting harmed and make sure that the risk assessment remains regularly updated. Risk management needs to follow the legal policies put in place by the state as well as those that have been endorsed by management.
