Conclusion and Recommendations

Located in Melbourne City both Hilton Melbourne South Wharf and Mercure Welcome to Melbourne provide both domestic and international customers with modern and comfortable accommodation. With the scenery and a view of the city, the two hotels are the most commonly booked and have approximately an average of three-quarter bookings yearly. However, some improvements can be made on the hotels.

  • Both hotels should improve their cancellation policies to be customer friendly to ensure that more customers book with them.

  • The hotels should provide airport transfer for their customers to create effectiveness and comfort especially to the international customers who are not familiar with the city.

  • Mercure Welcome to Melbourne can introduce suites to capture a wider range of customers and sustain its competitive advantage.

  • The hotels can also introduce self-check-in kiosks in their lobbies to improve consumer experiences.

  • Putting in place environmental conservation measures through going green, which is critical in the hospitality industry, can also improve the hotel’s performances (Webster, 12).

  • Finally, the hotels could ensure they expand ways of acquiring guest feedback and reviews and ensure that they act on them promptly (Gee, 56).
