Researchers classified the current issues affecting the globe into five categories; monetary, ecological, and technological (Boon et al 2009). Nuclear weapon development is a major global current issue. Seven countries previously approved an agreement aimed at stopping the nuclear program in Iran. According to past surveys, almost two thirds of Americans do not approve of the interim nuclear deal (Haugen & Musser 2011). Some have approved the way president Obama’s handles U.S business with Tehran. If a common agreement fails to be achieved, the public remains divided on what ought to be done (Daniels, et al 2014). According to research, majority of Americans have supported the prevention of nuclear arm development by Iran. Also, majority of French, Germans, and British support this move, even it calls for military action (Zahraei 2014).

According to Enerstvedt (2014), the superpower antagonism between the U.S and China has existed for the past few decades and has continued in the current times. According to previous research, only less than four out of ten Americans viewed the Middle Kingdom positively and the same applied to the Chinese concerning America. The dislike feeling among the Americans and the Chinese was proven to be mutual. Their attitude towards each other has worsened over time. China’s current territorial disagreements in the East and South Seas have caused great tensions with the immediate neighbors (Fedorak 2014).

International negotiators held meetings in the past years in the attempt to find a permanent solution to the civil war in Syria that has persisted for over two years. More than half of Americans endorsed president’s Obama’s delay in military hit on Syria. According to Fedorak (2014), the aim of the delay was to try out diplomatic means to persuade Damascus to dispose their chemical weapons reserve. However, majority of Americans did not approve of the president’s approach towards Syria condition (Hamid 2014). Meanwhile, the neighboring countries are worried that the Syria crisis might spread past the territories. These neighboring countries include; Turkey, Israel, Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon. However, most of these countries do not support the move by either the Arab or the West to send military to conquer the illegal groups in Syria (“Global issues” 2014).

Washington uses drones to end terrorism. It has used drones in countries such as Somalia, Pakistan, and Yemen. This drone warfare has fueled anti-American feeling because many countries are opposed to it. Global military spending has decreased since the end of the Cold War (Hamid 2014). However, the US still maintains extreme spending levels. The US accounts for more than half of the total global military spending. According to past research, majority of citizens of the 31 surveyed countries opposed the use of drones. Nevertheless, the U.S drone hits still persist in 2014. Majority of Americans argue that such acts are essential is securing America from terrorism (Zahraei 2014).

In the year 2013, the U.S government surveillance methods leaked through a former security service provider Edward Snowden. Many European publics disapprove the thought that the national governments have the right to collect handset and the internet data of civilians of other partnered countries even in attempts to uphold national security (Sampedro & Hillyard 2004). According to a survey conducted in the year 2013, majority of Germans, French, Swedes, and British opposed this ideology. However, many Americans claim that the NSA surveillance program has contributed to the safeness of the U.S form terrorism. Most of the U.S surveillance programs took effect after the 9-11 activists’ attacks on the U.S in the year 2001. The extensive collection of data has dragged millions of citizens’ activities in the PRISM (the surveillance trapping software) even though it had nothing to do with terrorism.

A 2013 report from OECD showed that financial inequality among OECD countries has grown over the past decades (Hamid 2014).Upcoming market economies encounter parallel challenges. According to a survey conducted in 39 countries, majority of citizens concur that the current economic scheme errand the wealthy (Jackson 2007). The gap between the wealthy and the poor has significantly added up in the past six years.

Climate change has been named the utmost rising humanitarian challenge currently. It has resulted to the anguish of many people in the globe. Climate change challenges all developmental factors; hence, it is one of the major threats to sustainable development. The world climate has revolutionized in the past centuries (Sampedro & Hillyard 2004). Even though climate change is a global crisis, most effects depend with the region. Climate change is believed to result from the concentration of greenhouse gases, which ambush heat and cause global warming (Zahraei 2014).
