Introduction

This paper gives 4 different graphs extracted from the data of sales and consumer reaction of different films. This paper gives brief analytical explanation of the graphs interpreting their meanings and how they can be used to make different decisions by the users.

  1. Opening Weekend vs Worldwide Gross by Film colored by RT sized by Budget.

Allows visibility of influence of Opening Weekend on WW Gross, also how these openings are affected by Budget and Critical Score.

From the scattered graph above, the overall pattern shows positive relationship between the

Opening Weekend vs. Worldwide Gross by Film colored by RT sized by Budget. Both budget and the RT are moving in positive direction. The form of association in the graph as can be seen is linear relationship. This indicate that a unit change in one unit increases the other variable with the same amount. There is a very strong relationship between the variables due to the fact that the dots in the graphs are tightly clustered around the straight line if it were to be drawn from the graph. Some of the drivers of worldwide gross profit include foreign gross and domestic gross which are linearly related with the opening weekend. We have net profit and budget and lastly profit and budget. On the other hand, top divers of operating weekend include dementia grand box, worldwide and box office and box office and number 0. For the budget top drivers number of game, profitable foreign games and worldwide profits. In general, the relationship between opening weekend and worldwide gross by film is positive and with tightly associated by each film.

  1. Comparison of Avg WW Gross vs Avg Net Profit.

The graphs shows a breakdown by year by genre of the average WW Gross vs. the Avg Net Profit and indicated in the bar graphs above. In the first year, worldwide gross is about $ 270 million turnover while the net profit gives $ 250 in the first phase, second phase shows the worldwide gross at $ 200 million while the net profit is $ 190 million. Third phase shows the highest worldwide gross of $ 280 and the net profit with the same margin while fourth phase give worldwide gross at around $ 170 while the profit at $ 150 million. Lastly, the last phase gives worldwide margin is $ 260 while net profit gives $ 250 million. This is specifically for the action movies and films.

For the adventure on the same year, the first phase gives the worldwide at $ 530 while net profit also at $ 530 million. The second phase gives lower of $ 100 million of worldwide gross and net of $ 50 million. The third phase improved with worldwide gross of $ 170 and $ 130 million for the net profit. There is also tremendous improvement in the fourth phase with worldwide gross of $ 480 million with the net profit at $ 450. This further drops to around $ 240 million on the worldwide gross and net to $ 130 million. It shows inconsistent in overall sales of the adventure movies.

The last case was that of the animation movies for the same year. In the first case, worldwide gross and the Net profit were the same at around $ 350 million. The second phase were much lower with worldwide gross of $ 250 million and net profit of the same amount ($ 250). The third phase gives $ 300 million for both worldwide gross and net profit and a higher net profit of $ 480 and $ 450 million of the worldwide gross. The last part gives a total of $ 300 million for both net profit and worldwide gross.

In conclusion actions movies were the highest followed by the animation and lastly the adventure films.

  1. Bubble Comparison of Audience Score vs Rotten Tomato, sized by Budget and colored by Oscar.

Allows a quick insight into how audiences & critics react to film by budget size, and also shows that Oscar winners score highly on both scales. Ask yourself, do audiences seem to prefer big budget films?

The bubble graphs shows the relationship between the rotten tomatoes in percentage and the audience score by films. The budget and the Oscar count are illustrated in the graphs. The Oscar winner’s score are highly rated by the viewer as they are densely populated indicating many people agreeing with the ranking while the ranking of the by budget allocation are skewed indicating that many are not supporting the view and going for the average percentage level of agreement varies from one point to another. This is well captured the bubble graphs and gives the viewer’s easy way of visualizing the reaction to the two categories of ranking that is both budget and Oscar award winning criterion of ranking.

  1. A Predictive Model for Foreign Gross.

The table above gives the predictive values of the worldwide and foreign gross. The figures are very important for sales and marketing department in projecting the possible outcome in the next few years or months both for worldwide and foreign gross demand. It starts with the worldwide gross of 278.80 overall and grove awards of the domestic gross. The budget and domestic gross gives an estimate of 30.4 and future expectation of 57 units. These are mostly from the discoveries. Actions films gives the highest level of sales followed by the animation and lastly the comedy. If an individual intends to venture in this business then actions movies would perform relatively better compared to other methods. Foreign gross also gives the highest at around 42% while closely followed by domestic at 32% the balance are for the budget and others. The visualized of the overall market activity gives people easy way of understanding the behavior of individual groups of people towards different types of films.
