The current harsh economic times are forcing people to overwork in order to supporting their increasing wants. The work has become so monotonous that people are unable to concentrate on the roads. Introduction of driverless cars will reduce the current number of accidents (O’Toole, 2009). This is because the system in the car is precise and free from human error.

Poor driving by human beings leads to excess fuel consumption. However, driverless cars will be precise, an aspect that will reduce the amount of fuel consumed (Rirdan, 2012). This will play a significant role in reducing the level of global warming.


One of the major weaknesses of driverless cars is that in case of system failure, multiple fatal accidents can occur on the roads (Kowalski, 2014). In addition, the systems can be hacked by people with ill-motive, an aspect that can lead to many deaths.

Currently, the number of engineers who have learnt on how to manufacture driverless cars is so minimal. Therefore, despite the product having a huge market, the company will not be able to satisfy the current demand due to lack of enough manpower (Squatriglia, 2004).


Currently, there are no driverless cars in the market. As a result, the entry of the product in the market could enable the company to make huge profits (Roebuck, 2011). On the other hand, there are more opportunities to improve the cars to make the safe and quicker.

One of the major threats that face the driverless car is people perception on robots. Many people do not trust the accuracy of technology. This aspect might affect the absorption of the idea by the target market (Squatriglia, 2004). This may make it hard for the product to penetrate the market. On the other hand, electric and hydrogen cars will pose a great threat to this car.
