EFFECTS OF EARLY CHILD-CARE 7

Effects of early child-care

Effects of early child care to children.

Child care is the care given to children who are mainly below the age of five. This involves the lessons and experiences that a child should learn during his tender age. Child care is characterized by various peripherals including: social, academic and children’s physical activities for betterment of their development. The developing trends in the ever evolving world child care are increasingly growing into a more common phenomenon in the society. Societal roles are now changing as we further embrace technology. We can see the emergence of children day care institutes in which has many faces i.e. a nanny taking care of the child at home or at the institution (Belsky, 2007).

Statistics and findings

During the past, research conducted showed that a large number of families highly depended on child care as it is normative. It is evident that most children in the United States undergo about 40 hours of child care every week. This has in turn raised eye brows on the effects involved. Most child care centre has provided an atmosphere similar to the one at home hence make the child stress free. It is also evident that the child who spent more hours at child care centre had less of maternal or non-maternal experience. Thus children who underwent child care showed excellent academic skills this is among the non-relative care. However the latter recorded poor social behavior (Guilfoyle, 2006). .

During a purposive research on child care centers, it showed that most centers offer quality services and deserved to be credited. Most parents now days use day care as a refuge for developing children which covers approximately 70% of the parents with children. Technological encroachment proves otherwise as more parents resort to child care especially by non-maternal care. However, it is observed that most single parents advocate for child care centers. This is due to the task enforced to them during this period where he has to cater for the family and at the same time take care of the toddler (Guilfoyle, 2006). .

Test carried using state of art technology showed that levels of cortisol remained constant in children in less quality child care centers. However, on other hand children in the quality one relayed decreasing levels of cortisol from morning to evening. This shows that the stress levels of children in quality day cares were manageable close to being eradicated. It is widely known that when levels of cortisol are pronounced to be high the child will face drastic behavioral change likely towards the negative. To manage this care givers are encouraged to create a friendly atmosphere between them and the child. With significant change this will impact to considerable reduction of cortisol level. Children from low income earning families are therefore vulnerable to face the heavy setbacks of low quality child care avenues. When the cortisol levels are P = 0.003 it shows significant interaction. Low quality services will result to long term undesirable neurological and other negative results associated with it (Guilfoyle, 2006).

Effects associated with child care

The initial stages of a child are very vital as this prepares him for his proposed life. Hence is the foundation for his discipline, moral values, inclusive of all the values that surround life. However with the emergence of Child care it comes with various effects into the society and the child as well. Therefore the pros and cons of child care are to date more exposed living the affected to make their own judgment on which grounds have stability. Research carried out by various stakeholders (various scientific institutes) show significant outcomes. Stress levels in children under child care which are of low quality i.e. are seen to be spiraling. Samples of saliva are from the child are taken and levels of cortisol measured. Besides the saliva test the child also displayed higher vocabulary scores in child care institute. This shows that the quality of child care institutes needs to be thoroughly checked for a better child development (Belsky, 2007).

According to Sims (2007) findings the guardian usually has a vast impact on the child’s cycle of life. During his time in the day care the child through play discovers various things through sight and experiments. He emulates what other children do establishing and expanding his thoughts. Apart from his thoughts it comes hand in hand with the child’s physical science as he develops motive skills. Easy activities sourced from other places into the day care promote the child’s life. Parental care as a natural vocation, he is responsible of the child’s wellbeing and the future he shape up. In this event the parent or the child’s legal guardian is obliged make the final decision on where the child should be raised up from. Choosing of child care proves to be an uphill task for affected parents. Quality child is mandatory for a better future of the child. Child care has thus shown to have more advantageous outcomes. Quality child care depicted a good academic skills and sound vocabulary than the other child. Children who spend most of the hours in child care seem be more adaptive in life situation as they can easily be engulfed into the society. They therefore show some elements of being aggressive which is very healthy for a child because of the attitude one will have towards life and what supports it. Though researchers have opposed that the effect of early child care from external sources has minute side effects, they are this small effects that generate a bigger problem.

Quality child care centers benefit children highly. This is because of the efficient services they offer and the facilities that they have which could otherwise not affordable in the home environment. Hence bolsters the child’s developments in sharpening his skills. The child is also able to live with others as he interacts with other children in the centre. In this case children from disadvantaged homes seem to benefit as they are able to find new ideas and new things that shape up life. Through non-relative day care the child is able to with others in peace and harmony without any instances of stress or being uncomfortable.

(Sims, 2007)

Children who spent long hours in the day care tend to have good mathematical skills. Through vivid memories the child is able to perform highly. The attitude towards variety of things learned seems to interest the child rather than make him tensed. The skill is seen to build up from his tender age to maturity as children who underwent child care from a non-maternal care and external environment become prominent people in the society. This is us opposed to the children who were maternally brought from a homely environment (Sims, 2007).

More hours in child care showed ill behavior. Besides this long hours spent at the premises showed a mammoth of negativity rather than positivity. Poor academic performance and declined social life such as diminished parent child relationship. This raises an alarm for parents as the child will grow into garbage that is will always be relying on others during his life. He will hence be a trained pest as the knowledge instilled in him during his tender age are as result of his ever declining social life (Belsky, 2007)..

The behavior of the child will hence be soiled due to upbringing. Weak skills are exhibited in the child’s life i.e. inhuman aggressiveness, low levels of associating with others for instance being mean and lower performance records. Through long hours in the day care the child develops defensive mechanism which he uses to achieve what he wants in life. This would therefore teach him/ barbaric skills of life where one has to either use his physical strength to gain. He thus becomes a nuisance to the society as his compelling nature is evident. However the weaker group will suffer as he will develop s psychological disorder where he will either operate as a loner due behavioral alterations caused by the environment in which he was raised up. Research has shown that instances of raised levels of cortisol were much higher in children who later were found to be shy (Belsky, 2007).

Child care is a critical stage in the life of a child. This is very vital in the child’s emotional, social, and physical development. A child’s physical and mental growth is very rapid and calls for close attention. During the early years day care will be the most significant place for the child through his development. Negative enjoyment of the child will highly influence his negative up bring. Encouragement of development is brought about by the treatment which he obtains from guardian. This calls for quality child care.

Child is in this way seen to be very resourceful to the young. The cognitive and development of the child socially is greatly enhanced. Proving results have shown that long term positive effects continually overshadow the negative instances. Quality child care should highly be observed by parents who recommend a better future for their children. Therefore, with the developing trends that has so far marked this century we should welcome the change of roles and view all parents as an important part of the child’s development.
