Strategic approach to e-learning


E-learning is a modern form of learning where electronics are used to convey education. Unlike any other form of learning, it encompasses the use of various technologies rather than the basic use of computers. It is a large scale when compared to online learning, it is a distance learning where students from different localities mainly rely on the internet to get educated (Wenger, 1998). This type of learning involves exploitation of technologies and use of ICT by both the teachers and the students. Due to globalization people are becoming busier each day, therefore teachers are using electronic media to instruct and teach their students from where they are without having to move. Electronic learning also helps to save space since a learner does not need to be in class for him/her to be taught.

E-learning is very helpful with the growing world’s population, with the growing technology; it has necessitated practical ways of reaching many people all over the world while at the same time enhancing learning in the institutions of learning. He learning has also been used in remote schools where quality professionals are not available. In this case, information communication technology is applied where the educator teaches by streaming learning contents from where he is teaching from. This helps to reduce costs of employing personnel and cost of hiring space (Mason and Rennie, 2008). Due to the growing need for quality education, institutions management for any school should collaborate with information system developers to provide quality technologies to be used in disseminating information to learners from different locations.

Technological development will help to maintain the global ecological environment by minimising the use of papers which might pollute the environment. E-learning is computer based where students access learning resources such as e-books, electronic materials. Also, travelling from one place to another to prepare learning by teaches is reduced. Congestions are also reduced since there is less movements to access learning materials from a common place. To enhance learning and provide quality education teachers are using interactive computers, information systems and communication process in a way that no other method has ever achieved. One advantage of e-learning is it can be used in all levels of subjects.

Due to these advantages, there is a need to develop a reliable strategic approach to e- learning. This can be done through Synchronicity, this works in two ways; asynchronous method and synchronous method. For asynchronous method a program designed that help students to work through the screen and their own time and pace. This can be best applied during the winter season where the students can learn from home. Environment matters a lot when it comes to learning, and thus students learn best from the comforts of their homes than in cold weather from their classroom.

Unlike asynchronous method where students learn at their own pace, in synchronous method delivery of information happens at the same time and receipt by students. In this method the learner must be present during the learning process. These include use of devices such as video conferencing and electronic white boards. Even though the learner must be present during delivery time, the learner is not confined in a classroom instead learning can happen all over the world as long as the learners can access the learning screens.

There are other technologies that are used to enhance e- learning and their efficiency should be improved for better learning in the future for instance, the use of electronic books. Electronic books are digital books used in e-learning. E-electronic books use limited space and carry al lot of materials as compared to paper books. Increasing its efficiency will help student to reduce cost of buying since they are cheaper. No papers are required to publish the book, and also it saves the students the inconvenience caused by carrying so much paper work (Lave & Wenger 1991)

Mobile computing is growing at a high speed and should be considered in e-learning. This is not a widely used technology but it should another and their phones from one place be developed to work efficiently in the coming generation (Bandura, 1977). Learners can move with their mobile phones from one place to another and thus they can access learning resources from wherever they are. To implement this, institutions should collaborate with mobile computing providers to develop systems that can be accessed by students via their mobile phones.

Visual data analysis

This is type of technology that has undertaken the scientific world, it is involves mining and abstraction of complex and numerous data. It gives a clear interpretation to the human context understanding. The data absorbed would have been so tedious if done manually by the people. The network data is then displayed in large pattern order for it to be visual by all the perpetrators. Most of the scientific tedious complex and hard processes are solved used these technology. In chemistry, this technology assists the instructors to give a quality and concrete facts of the chemical processes (Palloff & Pratt1999). Chemistry processes which are used in most of the brewing like the mixing of ethanol with other chemicals to produce alcohol. They are done with professionalism and in much accurate ways. This form of technology will help in extracting accurate references in the field of chemistry, which will be used as future references by the future generation who will rely on it instead of researching on another one. As the technology will be improved to enhance more research and in much faster ways, it will result to production of quality goods like the paints and other chemical involving materials to be used in the economy. This will result to better existence of the newly emerging form of technology. It is also of much importance to the other areas like the physics and the biology applications. It helps the engineering practitioners to get the better gist of the construction processes taught in class into practical ways, which enhances better understanding as the processes are displayed, and the solutions to networks shown precisely. These networks may be the building and construction ones, which are the main practical jurisdictions in the engineering field. The improvement of the technology will foresee the engineering processes being taught faster in the colleges and universities producing quality graduates who know well the building and construction methodologies.

As science is the heart of everything done in our day-to-day activities, implementing and investing heavily in this type of technology is of much importance. It will oversee the chemistry, physics and biology fields being promoted to other level. The future generation will have the capability of learning faster, effectively, and efficiently and in a more cheap methodologies.

Gesture- based computing

This e-learning method is commonly involved with the marketing perpetrators who deal with the consumer effects. It involves control in the marketing world, which entails the customers’ needs and satisfaction (Sawyer, 2007). It has the content of detecting the body motions of the users and it enhances the reading if the finger, arms and other body parts. This technological methodology is better as compared to other computer activities that require the human-computer interactions. People who are computer illiterate can also use the computer and get feedback as required compared to using the manual computers. Once implemented, this context will enhance quality and quantity learning as the students from all lifestyles can get feedback from the computers (Scott, 2000). In future as the technology penetrates well in all economies and all regions in the world, it will be economical since no much human labour in terms of manual or analogy teachers will be required. Learners will also find it interesting to learn in this form of learning and will do it as passion.

Involving technology in learning will see many youths having a quest to learn. This is because learning through computers if fun and students get direct answers and at instance everywhere, they are so long as they have access to the internet connections and services (Rheingold, 2002). E learning also assists the learners to share their views through the website in such a way that a practitioner in medical field based in Africa can consult his/her colleague in Asia at the click of a button. Involving technology in learning will oversee much quality and better qualified personnel.
