  1. Executive summary

This is a business plan aimed at helping the young persons of the generation i starting a cyber cafe especially in the third world countries such as Kenya. Therefore in this business plan we have focused on a plan to realize the internet cafe and system to realize profits from the internet cafe. In this plan, we will show you how to build and realize the internet cafe, the expected costs and the running costs to be incurred from time to time.

    1. Kenya & Nairobi

Kenya is country located in the African continent to the east. Kenya border the war ravaged Somalis to the east, Ethiopia to the north, and Tanzania to southern. It also share border with countries like Uganda and southern Sudan. In that region of east Africa, it is the most developed country that commands the region’s economy. It is the most stable nation in the area with many international organizations setting their bases there.

This particular nation is renowned for its athletic prowess where the nation has commanded the long distant races in the recent years.

This nation is multicultural and it is one on the world`s best tourist destinations. This nation is far ahead of other third world countries in terms of information technology and it accounts for almost 50% of internet users in the African continent. It is the nation where the largest mobile money transfer in the world is practiced.

Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya. It is the hub of all financial banks, industries, educational centres and country`s political system. In this city is where the technologies are first practised before being spread in other towns. It is where the M-pesa mobile money transfer was first practiced.

    1. Objective

The location for set up of the internet cafe is in Nairobi, Kenya. It is a city with larger population who form the majority of internet users in the country. Our goal or rather is to set up an internet cafe that is affordable to most of the population and still realize profits to the owner so that it can continue functioning all time year round.

Will there be demand for my products and services? Majority of Nairobi population do not have access to personal computers hence demand for the internet cafe services will be very high all the time of the year.

  1. Description of the organisation

The internet cafe which will be set up will offer the majority of Nairobi community high quality and very affordable services. The internet cafe will offer instructional classes about internet for those new to the internet and this will appeal all members of the society whether young or old. The younger generation will be eager to attend those classes so that they can surf the internet without any problems. Ownership of the internet cafe will be entirely on the person(s) who set it up.

The internet cafe will be located in the residential estates where there is large population and can be accessed even in the later hours of the night and weekends.

The cyber cafe is designed to offer many types of products and services to its esteemed customers who will always be highly valued so that they always seek the services and products of the cyber cafe. Customers will have access to the internet and World Wide Web. They will have the opportunity to use the printer, scanner and computer classes at their request.

    1. Competitive comparison

The internet cafe will be located in the residential estates where there is large population and very few internet cafes have been set up there. This location is also very suited since during the leisure time, people can play even computer games from the internet cafe.

    1. Description of services offered by internet cafe

The internet cafe will offer first class services which are appealing to all persons regardless of their social status in the community and age. The internet and the computing services that will be provided by the future internet cafe once in service are listed as below;

  1. Printing services

  2. Scanning services

  3. Laminating services

  4. Access to external emails (POP3) accounts

  5. Internet browsers to surf the internet such as Mozilla, Chrome and internet explorer

  6. Access to FTP, Gopher, Telnet, amongst other Internet utilities

  7. Access to basic Microsoft programs such as Microsoft office and others

  8. Computer games such as racing games

    1. Plan fulfilment

The internet cafe will obtain the necessary software’s from the local stores, the freeware will be obtained from the internet and others purchased from the internet. Electricity connection will be provided by the local providers.

  1. Competitor Analysis

The major goal of this business plan is to set up an internet cafe, let the internet cafe run and realize enough profits that will result in the expansion of the business or enterprise. However in every business adventure there are challenges that are usually faced by the entrepreneur.

In this particular business adventure, there are several challenges that have been researched and established to be key competitors to the establishment of the internet cafe. The main competitors established were;

    1. Existing internet cafes

The main challenge to a new business is to obtain customers or buyers of your services and products. To address the issues of obtaining the customers, we planned to lower our costs that we will charge our customers. A discount of 10-15% on all services and products was established to result in the influx of customers.

    1. Computers colleges

We established that if we offer some free instructional classes of how to use the modern software’s and programs, majority of internet users will influx to our internet cafe. After receiving the classes, they will buy our services and this act will enables us to outclass the existing colleges which require people to pay certain fees.

    1. Local computer games stores

Since most of the computer users in the neighbourhood rely on the local stores to purchase the computer games, we found it wise to offer computer games from our internet cafe. It was established that only modern up to date games could only be obtained from the internet cafe due to its connectivity to the internet at all times. It is the place where online computer games could be accessed.
