Method of assessing communication styles

In essence, communication styles can be evaluated through self-assessment, psychological assessments, which are designed to assist in assessing interpersonal communication style and skills, and offer supportive tips for becoming an excellent speaker and team player. Additionally, Communication style can assessed online through Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) instrument or other online-based instruments in a procedure that involves answering almost 24 different items associated to both the oral and non-oral communication and takes roughly ten minutes to finish. Importance of having knowledge of communication styles

Knowing my communication style help one become further sentient of how other individuals recognize his personality, he can adjust more earnestly to their communicating communication. Certainly, this will not indicate he has to be a chameleon, for varying with behavior he comes across; rather, he can make another individual more at ease with by choosing and stressing certain behaviors that well suit within his personality and reverberate with another. Other importance of comprehending the communication values helps an individual to know his value to a team, his major strengths, and weaknesses, to comprehend what motivates him, what can improve his communication, and help one understand his emotional reaction (Hax, 2013).

My communication style

My communication style is any of the four fundamental styles of communication: passive communication, aggressive communication, passive-aggressive communication, and assertive communication. Briefly, passive communication isa style, in which people have generated a trend of avoiding articulating their opinions or emotions, shielding their rights, and recognizing and achieving their desires ( Fundamentally, passive communication style typically is intuitive of low confidence. Aggressive communication in its part isa style in which people express their emotions and opinions and urge for their desires in a manner that infringes the rights of other individuals; therefore, aggressive speakers are orally and/or bodily obnoxious (Sherman, 2013). Passive-aggressive communication is a style in which people seem passive on the outside but are in fact expressing out fury in a restrained manner, indirect way, or secretly. Finally, assertive communication which is my communication style, is a style in which people evidently affirm their feelings and opinions, and resolutely fight for their rights and desires without breaching other individuals rights (Endress, 2011).

Strengths of My communication style

Strengths of my communication style include excellent individual skills, excellent team player and considers other people’s opinions and feelings, and an excellent mediator when crisis or conflicts arise (Endress, 2011).

Areas of communication I need to be aware

I need to learn how to harmonize without the need of sacrificing my results and I should not be patient to instigate an action for panic of denial or failure. In addition, I should concentrate in setting up goals and taking actions as well as comprehend how to express myself when everyone disagrees with me (Endress, 2011).
