Self-Understanding Is Fundamental To Communication

Introduction

Communication is an art of passing information from one party to another through a media. Most of the people tend to interpret information during communication process due to many reasons. Indeed, communication involves various steps that depict the efficiency of information delivery. Likewise, there are factors that determine the efficacy of communication process. For instance, the language of communication, the type of audience as well as the personal attributes determine the success of interpretation of information. In this regard, self-understanding is one of the determining factors in ensuring the success of communication.

Communication Questions

Question 1

Communication is a learning session that requires a person to observe the necessary skills and behaviors required in making communication successful. Personally, my communication skills have taken another direction due to the exposure and confidence that I have gained along. For instance, selection of the right knowledge to the audience is one of the strides convey the information to other party in the simplest way (De and Lange 76). Secondly, keeping the changes in the environment abreast was a difficult task but I managed to adapt new style of dressing and the use of relevant body gestures. For example, putting an attracting facial expression has re ally attracted the audience during my public speaking.

Question 2

Self-concept is the major determinant of writing in terms of presenting the essay in the most unique and interesting way. Through self-concept, I have been able to determine my audience and make the right choice of words to convey the message in the most interesting manner. In addition, the use of correct punctuation marks and achieving the coherence of the essay depends on the research that I undertake on the respective topics as far as effective communication is concerned.

Question 3

Apparently, there are certain notions that hold the successfulness of the communication. Some of these beliefs include the understanding the audience, proper use of the gesture while communicating to the other party and deciding on the right time when to communicate about the information (De and Lange 75). For example, it is a belief that there are different topics for both the adults and the children. At tender age, the younger ones may not understand the communication structure of the adults due to different level of experience.

Question 4

Self-fulfilling prophecy refers to a situation where a person forces a condition to come true because he believes that it is true. In this case, the subject coerces people to make decisions regardless of the situation. For instance, a football coach may assume that the fresher have less knowledge of the playing the game hence may decide to forgo them over the experienced players.

Part II Questions

Question 1

M.C. Escher was an artist that is remembered with his unique of presenting the galleries. Precisely, the person sketches and draws the structures together with studying the insects. To achieve the target, he converses with many professionals depending on their level of studies (De and Lange 77). He does the research on the respective professionalism and knows how to address them.

Question 2

The perception affects the communication because one may have a negative perception towards a topic. Making the prior judgments affects, the efficacy of communication hence it is prudent that people should not make the early judgments about the subject.

Question 3

Making a conclusion about a subject before an actual discussion affects the feelings of a person. One day I assumed that the teacher wanted to address the discipline issues on the closing ceremony only to realize that he was there to reward the best performers.
