Key terms:

Consistency: refers to all aspects of writing such as “bibliography, date, numbers, hyphenation, capitalization, or even referring to other writers (pg. 57)” that writers need to include in their writing.

Proofreading: Refers to the most essential part of writing. Proofreading comes in after the writer is through with drafting the writing so that errors; both syntax and semantic, can be eliminated (Pg. 58).

Plagiarism: This is a feature that readers must avoid at all cost. It refers to the act of inserting copied work (written by other authors) without making an effort to reference them (pg. 62).

Voice and tone: These terms represents individual style of writing. They reflect the individual ability to engage active constructions in his or her writing, in a way, that best recognizes and addresses the audience (pg. 70).

Central focus: Good academic writing is achieved primarily by observing and paying close attention to three very important aspects; formatting, the audience, and the topic (pg. 56).

Formatting will address all the writing practices that the writer arms’ his or her dissertation with such that all the syntax and semantic aspects of writing are all addressed, which all summarizes a writer’s writing consistency. On the other hand, paying close attention to the topic matter is very relevant if at all the writer if to achieve his or her objective. Whereas, the “audience” matter becomes the most important part of all in the writing (pg. 64). Writers need to know their audience very well before engaging in any writing since the audience, by all means, will affect not only the voice and tone of their writing, but also the format and other writing practices.

Content Significance: The significance of this study is to emphasize on the need to embrace the proper academic writing practices such that writers can manage to use the right formatting criteria that best address their audience while at the same time they keep relevant their topic of discussion.

Methodology Analysis: The data in this report is adopted from Poore and Craswell’s “Essentials of Academic Writing (2012).” Given the relevance of the data to academic writing, the information can be considered viable and applicable. However, further individual research and investigation is recommended to better further individual writing skills.
