Are groups of persons sharing a passion or concern for what they do and interact regularly so as to learn how they can do it better. One role of CoP is facilitating the capture of tacit knowledge. In the higher education sector, the forte of students’ knowledge activities depends on the integration as well as transfer of tacit knowledge by means of activities in the CoPs. Basically, tacit knowledge may be shared as well as integrated by means of social interactions network such as CoP. Community of Practice is related to knowledge management and can be used in higher education sector as a way to nurture new knowledge and sharing tacit knowledge. Without a doubt, CoPs are perfect means for leveraging tacit knowledge since they promote interaction and at the same time engaging the entire group to advance their field of practice. This can be strengthened further through identifying priority issues collaboratively so as to be addressed by CoP. In view of this role, CoP helps in creating and fostering a shared sense of identity, which consequently offers the missing element to ensure institutional memory as well as sharing of learning and teaching practices. Furthermore, it offers a secure space for experimenting and reflecting on learning as well as teaching.
