4. Bottlenecks for the model, suggestions and measures to support your arguments

From the simulation the following observations were made. First, even though the number of activities in the accounting process where less resource utilization and the queuing delay was high as compared with the clerical process in the internet order process. Second, entering user into the loyalty program and the shipping caused major delay during the clerical process. Lastly, the accounting activity the charging purchases has the highest resource utilization and delay. Given this above observations and findings Grapper needs to make changes in its internet ordering process in order to reduce the queue time and ensure good service delivery to its customers.

Clearly, the current ordering system suffers from the following [1]. Majority of time and resources are spent in the accounting process therefore, a need to restructure the accounting activities [2]. The loyalty program uses a lot of resources and time yet it is not core activity of the ordering process [3] the number of activities during the clerical process where many and some were redundant. Given this systematic problem in Grapper’s internet ordering process I recommend that the firm implements the following recommendations.

Since majority of the queuing time is spent on the accounting process (Manuel et al, 2013) Grapper should allocate more resources to the above process. This could be done through a queuing software or increasing the number of staff. Moreover, more resources should be allocate to ensure new customers are served is the shortest time as possible. It will ensure that new client perceives that Grapper level of service is of the highest standard. First impression last. From the flowchart the number of process were too many in the clerical process reducing them will ensure the overall queuing time is reduced.

After implementing the above recommendations the overall queuing process time was reduced for both clerical and accounting processes. The queuing process for the accounting process was reduced by increasing the number of staff whereas that of clerical process the loyalty program was removed to reduce the number of activities. Thus observations from the new simulation model were far much better and improved the overall efficiency of the ordering process. I therefore recommend that the recommendations if well implemented Grapper customers will immensely benefit by reducing the time wasted during ordering a product.
